Trade union demonstrations


Although membership of trade unions has been on the decline in the UK since the 1980s, a very high percentage of staff working in the education sector are members of trade unions and so they still play a very important role.

Schools

* In September 2011 the NUT, EIS, UTU and INTO agreed to work as partners in future campaigns

Support staff

There are many unions representing support staff, including:

FE and adult education

Plus other unions listed under Schools above have members in this sector and there are a wide range of unions representing support staff.

Higher Education

Plus there are a wide range of unions representing non-academic and support staff.
